…if things look a bit different here for a while. I’ve decided that it’s really time to update my blog theme. I will be basing the new theme on the current default WordPress theme, so things will probably look a bit generic for a while.
The comics page will remain the same for the time being.
After three weeks of embarrassing stasis, I’m finally posting comics again. Of course, it’s the same long story that’s been dragging on for months. I’m as sick of it as you are, and once it’s over I’ll go back to single-page strips for a while.
I’ve got a webcomic. Lately I’ve been averaging one comics page a week, if that. That’s because creating each page is like dragging myself uphill.
Longer stories–like the one I’ve got going now–start with a pile of scribbled notes from three or four different sketchbooks, which may or may not originally have had anything to do with each other. Eventually I seek them out–or at least the ones I remember–and piece them together chronologically.
This is why I usually have no idea where a story is going until I’m halfway through. (Further details, and illustrations, past the link.) Continue reading Why the Comics Take So Long
For anyone following the current comics, a quick update: this week’s pages will appear Tuesday and Thursday again. I’ve been trying to alternate Monday/Wednesday/Friday updates with Tuesday/Thursday updates, but for a number of reasons I’ve fallen slightly behind.
I’ve revamped the page for my artwork, changing the small previews to full thumbnails and revising the selection of drawings. Some have also been featured in the comics section but some are unique to this page. I plan to swap artwork in and out more often, eventually whittling the page down to my best work.
Just for the hell of it, here’s the latest drawing from Super Doomed Planet Comics:
According to my server logs, somebody has on two occasions come to this page after searching on the phrase “billy joel she gets weary.”
Man, if your girlfriend is that tired of your Billy Joel records, *stop playing them.*
